2006 - Tejo Energia |Legal Disclamer

Introduction

From the very outset in 1992, Tejo Energia considered, and continues to consider, its performance and efforts in the areas of Safety, Health and the Environment to be of prime importance. This means operating to the highest standards in these areas and being fully compliant with all current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and license conditions.

In order to achieve its environmental objectives and to comply with future legislation, Tejo Energia is installing additional emission abatement equipment at Pego Power Station which will significantly reduce its emissions to the atmosphere. After studying the possible technologies available to reduce emissions of sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulates into the atmosphere, Tejo Energia, in conjunction with REN (Rede Eléctrica Nacional), opted to install a flue gas desulphurisation plant (for SO2) and selective catalytic reduction plant (for NOx).

The contract to design, supply and install the additional equipment was awarded to a consortium of Alstom companies. The contract was awarded in late 2005 and the work is expected to be complete in mid 2008.
