Tejo Energia has used the RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of
Accidents) system to assess the efficacy of the Power Station’s
safety management system since 1996.
Audits are performed on a rotating basis by RoSPA and internal auditors
trained by and qualified to RoSPA standards. RoSPA awarded Pego Power
Station its Gold Prize for the sixth year running, in 2002, in due acknowledgement
of the power station’s good safety record.
The objective of the QSA (Quality Safety Audit) is to satisfy the
requirements of the most important safety management systems, to include
HS(G) and OHSAS 18001. The QSA system evaluates the comprehensiveness,
quality and implementation of safety control documentation and issues
a numerical rating to a large number of results achieved in 11 sub-sections.
This allows all parts of the Safety Management System to be quantified
and compared.
